Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) is a tunnelling protocol developed by Cisco that can encapsulate or condense a wide variety of network layer protocol packet types inside IP tunnels, creating a virtual point-to-point link to Cisco routers at remote points over an IP internetwork.
Digicel’s GRE Tunnel is designed to give customers a means of connecting mobile devices/POS terminals to their data network while improving security and reducing latency. The network infrastructure includes the mobile devices, Digicel’s EDGE, Digicel’s WBB network and the customer’s data network.
