DIGICEL TAKES CLOUD SERVICES TO CUSTOMERS ACROSS JAMAICA WITH REGIONAL SEMINARS

Digicel has taken its suite of Cloud products to customers across Jamaica in a series of ‘Cloud Seminars’. The first seminar was held in Montego Bay on Thursday October 27, 2011 at the Ritz Carlton Golf & Spa Hotel, Rosehall. The main focus of the seminar was to highlight the superior benefits of Digicel’s latest cutting-edge technological innovations to both public and private sector businesses.

 

Commercial Director of Digicel, Jason Corrigan in addressing the participants at the seminar outlined that, “Digicel is pleased to be leading the charge on making Jamaica the ICT hub of the Caribbean by providing businesses with the best and the latest in technology innovations”. “With the recent launch of our Cloud Telephony product it is now easier and more cost efficient for any size business to have state of the art voice solutions”. “Our Tier III Data Center, the only one of its kind in the Caribbean, and our Cloud Backup services also allows for safe, secure and hassle-free storage and retrieval of data”.

 

Each seminar that is to be held will see participants being exposed to key presentations from experts in Information Communication Technology.  For the first seminar, main presentations were made from Digicel Business ICT Development Manager, Tom O’Neil who covered the topic “Cloud Telephony-“Unifying and Simplifying Communications”. Mr Garfield Gordon, Senior Systems Engineer at CISCO presented on, “Cloud Dynamics- Computing as a Platform for Operational Excellence”. Each presenter covered issues in defining and classifying cloud services, software and platform implications, quality of service and efficiency in service delivery, business continuity, security and policy.

 

The second seminar will be held in Kingston at the Jamaica Pegasus in association with the Mona School of Business and the International  Telecommunication Union on November 1- November 2,2011.Dubbed  ‘The 2011 Cloud Conference’, the two day workshop will see several presenters further exploring the range  of benefits Cloud services.
